What is permanent laser hair removal?
At Bellava, permanent laser hair removal is carried out with the Palomar Icon™ system, which involves intense pulsed light (IPL) technology that safely and permanently removes unwanted hair by weakening and destroying hair follicles. Bellava is the only facility in Westchester to offer clients the Icon system, the latest, most effective Palomar system available on the market today.
Who is a good candidate for permanent laser hair removal?
Both men and women seeking hair removal on any part of the body can achieve excellent results with the Icon system, which works on all skin types, hair colors and textures.
What can I expect from permanent laser hair removal at Bellava?
In a private room, a laser-certified aesthetician will administer the treatment using a light-pulsing handpiece over the targeted area.
How long does the treatment take?
It varies depending on the treatment. For instance, it could take just five minutes for the upper lip, or up to an entire hour for full legs.
How many treatments are necessary?
Since hair follicles grow in three distinct cycles (active, regressive and dormant) treatments are typically spaced six weeks apart. Several treatments, approximately 6, are needed for optimal results.
What about sunbathing before or after treatments?
Prolonged sun exposure is not recommended for 7-10 days before or after treatment. If you do go out in the sunscreen should be used during the entire course of treatments.
