A cheek lift helps to reduce sagging, puffy jowls and corrects droopy, fatty tissue associated with aging.
Beautiful, full cheeks–they’re a quintessential sign of a youthful appearance. But as we age, we lose those plump, pinch-worthy cheeks as gravity impacts the mid face region between the lower eyelids and mouth, flattening out the cheek area and often creating a gaunt, hollowed look. Dark circles may also appear under the eyes and creases between the nose and mouth deepen.
A cheek lift (sometimes called a mid-face lift)–one of today’s hottest cosmetic procedures–can help you turn back the clock to achieve a healthy, younger-looking appearance. A cheeklift can also get reduce sagging puffy jowls and correct droopy, fatty tissue associated with aging.
In general, a cheeklift elevates the fat pad in the cheek (called the malar fat pad), providing fullness to cheeks for a rejuvenated look that can last for years.
There are a number of different techniques used when carrying out a cheek lift, which are modified and adjusted to meet each patient’s individual needs. According to Dr. Chang Soo Kim, MD, board-certified plastic surgeon and medical director at Bellava MedAesthetics & Plastic Surgery Center in Bedford Hills, NY, volume in the right places, not pulling the skin, is the essence of this procedure.
Fat is literally lifted from the jowl area, and then the skin is re-draped to mimic the underlying youthful contour.
The vertical lifting of the fat results in an ageless, beautiful cheek and cleaner jawline. A cheeklift also softens deep lines extending from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth (nasolabial folds), creating a more rested and youthful look.
A cheek lift is a highly individualized procedure. Dr. Kim would be happy to meet with you at our state-of-the art Westchester plastic surgery center (near Katonah, Chappaqua, Armonk, Ridgefield, etc.) during a complimentary consultation to discuss which issues best describes your situation, so a plan can be devised for treatment.

Who is a good candidate for a cheek lift?
What's the difference between a cheek lift and dermal fillers?
Injectable dermal fillers such as Radiesse, Juvederm, Restylane and Perlane are substances comprised of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the body. Dermal fillers are often used to plump cheeks or to correct deep creases in the mid face region such as nasolabial folds. While dermal fillers can “lift” the cheek area, a cheek lift is usually required when a more substantial correction is called for. For instance, if the face has experienced a great deal of sagging, dermal fillers alone may not do the trick. Only an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon such as Dr. Kim can determine what procedure will give you your desired outcome which is why it is important to schedule a consultation in order to review all of your options.
